The Ministry of the Environment has opened a call for grant applications for municipal and regional projects aiming to reduce greenhouse gas emissions generated by building-specific heating, machinery and equipment use, waste management, fluorinated gas use, transport and agriculture. Around half a million euros in funding has been allocated for the projects. The call for grant applications is part of the Ministry of the Environment’s 2018–2020 Municipal climate change solutions programme, which aims to accelerate work to combat climate change at the municipal and regional level.

The applicant can be a municipality, a joint municipal board, a subregion, a county or a consortium of these. Funding from the Ministry of the Environment can cover a maximum of 60 per cent of the costs of the project, however no more than EUR 50,000 per project. The application period will end on 15 April 2019.
