Decrees on type approval of construction products
Type approval is voluntary for manufacturers. By this, they can prove that the characteristics of the construction product are such that it fulfils the essential technical requirements laid down for it when used for the purpose declared by the manufacturer. A manufacturer can apply for type approval for a construction product if a decree concerning type approval has been issued for it. Type approval is granted by a type approval body authorised by the Ministry of the Environment.
Type approval requires certified quality assurance procedures. Type approval obliges the construction supervision authorities, which means that a type approved product can be used in a construction project.
A construction product may not be marked as type approved after the transitional period for a new harmonised product standard concerning the construction product has ended. The type approval expires if the CE marking becomes applicable to it.
