High level Celebration Conference of the first EU wide ecosystem assessment introduces the results of the assessment and offers a chance to discuss next steps, policy relevance and knowledge needs. The meeting will take place in Helsinki, Finlandia Hall on 13 December 2019.

Ministry of the Environment of Filand, European Comission and Finnish Environment Institute SYKE organize the conference under the Finnish Presidency of the Council of the European Union. 

The objectives of the conference are:

  • To present and highlight the policy relevance of the first EU wide ecosystem assessment as an outcome of the work on the Mapping and Assessment of Ecosystems and their Services (MAES) under the EU Biodiversity Strategy.
  • To present and discuss how to integrate this work in public and private decision-making processes including at EU, national and local level.
  • To discuss next steps, knowledge needs and the relevance of this work in the context of the post-2020 biodiversity agenda.

Registration and program

Registration and accreditation are mandatory for all delegations. Registration is open for all interested to participate. Online accreditation is open until 2 December 2019.
