The Arctic has been warming two times faster than the global average. This has serious implications for Arctic ecosystems and jeopardises the livelihoods of the Arctic inhabitants. More importantly, these changes are not limited to the Arctic region, but will have consequences throughout the world.
The seminar provides an opportunity to hear three esteemed scientists explain the reasons for and extent of ongoing Arctic changes and their global implications. It is expected to shed light on effective measures to mitigate Artic changes and point the way to a better understanding of the role of the new post-2020 climate agreement in this context.
The seminar will be opened by Minister of the Environment Sanni Grahn-Laasonen.
The panel will engage different stakeholders, including decision-makers, NGOs, academia, industry and administration, in forward-looking and constructive discussions.
The Ministry of the Environment, the Forum for Environmental Information and Future Earth Finland are jointly organising the seminar. It will be held on 3 February, 9.00-12.15, in Helsinki, at the House of Estates, Snellmaninkatu 9.
Welcome to all interested parties to attend the seminar!
