Certification of production quality control

Certification of production quality control is a voluntary approval procedure for construction products in Finland.

If it is not possible to confirm that the construction product is fit for the intended use in construction works with a CE mark based on a harmonised European product standard, or if no European Technical Assessment (ETA) has been granted to the product, the manufacturer of the construction product can confirm it is fit for the intended use by applying a national procedure for product approval, such as certification of production quality control.

Certification of production quality control can be used to confirm that the construction product is fit for the intended use, if type approval has not been granted or a verification certificate cannot be issued.

Acquiring certification for production quality control

The manufacturer of a construction product can maintain an internal quality control system in the factory. With this system, the manufacturer can confirm that the characteristics of a construction product fulfil the essential technical requirements set for it for the intended use declared by the manufacturer.

A certifying body for quality control, which is approved by the Ministry of the Environment, certifies the internal quality control system for production. The certifying body must state the assessment criteria it uses in its certification.

Mark of the certifying body for quality control

The certifying body for quality control must use a mark certifying quality control that differs from any other marks that it may use. The mark must include the text “valmistuksen laadunvalvonta” (production quality control).

The mark of the certifying body is provided for by the Ministry of the Environment Decree on the Type Approval of Certain Construction Products.
