The 15th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity will be held in Montreal, Canada on 7–19 December 2022. “The Conference in Montreal must mark a turning point in terms of halting the loss of biodiversity by 2030, somewhat in the same way as the Paris Climate Change Conference did for preventing climate crisis,” says Minister of the Environment and Climate Change Maria Ohisalo, who leads Finland’s delegation. Minister Ohisalo will attend the Conference on 15–19 December.

Decision on climate work on agriculture at Climate Change Conference

With respect to agriculture, the aim at the Climate Change Conference COP27 in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt was to complete the work under the Koronivia Joint Work in Agriculture launched in 2017 and to agree on the future of climate work on agriculture under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.

Into the Woods: High-level decision-makers to discuss role of forests in building good living environments

On 24 November, high-level European decision-makers will convene at the Finnish Nature Centre Haltia in Espoo to explore solutions forests can offer in the pursuit of good living environments. Prime Minister Sanna Marin’s guests at the Into the Woods event will be President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, European Commissioner for Environment Virginijus Sinkevičius, Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas and Swedish Deputy Prime Minister Ebba Busch.
